The ‘rainscreen principle’ is defined as a cladding system that is typically made up of two separate water barriers on the exterior and is commonly constructed as below.

1. Exterior Cladding. The outer skin is the primary rain barrier, controlling the majority of rain water, but doesn’t prevent air into air space.
2. Air space. The air space provides ventilation and may be designed for pressure equalization. It also acts as a secondary water barrier.
3. Insulating layer. This layer serves as an air barrier.
4. Structural back wall.

Cherry Hill Glass is familiar with the rainscreen principle and provides Rainscreen Cladding Components.
